Bike ride at the Baylands Park trail in Sunnyvale
Parallel to the 237 freeway, you will feel like somewhere else, especially if you go on a Sunday afternoon, sunny and warm, you will find only a very few riders around. I found this place one day visiting the hotel Aloft, super modern and different at the end of Great America Parkway and before you are in Alviso land.
I was curious to see the amount of water (from above of the hill) but could not see the entrance of the trail for bikers, until one day driving by that freeway saw other cyclists and also saw the sign. I really liked the calm and contemplating simple things of nature, like wild flowers and butterflies.
I tried to avoid the smell of the water...after all I think this is kind of a sewage for San Jose, so visualizing that this is a beautiful 'lake' gives your ride another dimension. Don't forget to stop at the explanatory posters/signs depicting the history of canning and fishing industry in Alviso, back in the day. Always good to know more things about the area we live, right?
