Poor Claires Monastery in Los Altos

Another fantastic discovery in the heart of Los Altos, my favorite town in all the Bay Area I would say. It is so peaceful at the Poor Clare Nuns grounds. I went both to find spiritual solace and breathe fresh air while in between hikes around those hills. I was amazed to be in complete solitude, no one to be seen, no one around, yet everything so open and welcoming. I liked the grotto a lot, I spent some time there, both reflecting about the terrenal life and celestial one. Thinking about (and talking to) the departed loves ones in silence while asking God for guidance. You don't need to be a catholic to feel spiritual, of course, but having grown up Catholic, this type of environment with saints and virgin images to which you can 'talk to' resonates more in me than visiting a Buddhist temple, for example (another of my interests is visiting all of them). This is definitively one of those hidden spots I will visit now and then when I need to be alone with nature searching for the meaning of life.
