Los Altos nursery - Furuichi Bros
Lost paradise waiting for you in Los Altos! I am lately into visiting all kinds of nurseries and learning about trees, plants, edible or not. I was just going to browse and of course I could not resist to get 2 new varieties of tomato plants for my boyfriend since he is growing tomatoes in big pots:). I got the Cosmonaut Volkov and Crnkovic Yugoslavian varieties...I hope I don't get Chernobyl quality tomatoes! In any case, fun discovery (they get exquisite with the naming!).
Los Altos nursery is pretty big and from outside looks like a huge garden of someone. You have 5 or 6 parking spots on the outside on the street and I did not find it difficult to park and then enter and enjoy the tropical banana tree with mini lake, the myriad of flowers, all very well organized, from the rose garden (roses that smell like old delicate roses, delicious) to the bamboo trees to any other fruit tree.
They also have a covered stored where you can get utensils for your garden, either if it is balcony potting or a huge backyard...just don't expect too many indoor plants. I don't think that is their forte and the prices were more expensive than at other places. The prices for the outdoor plants and edibles were very affordable.
I was so happily surprised when I was helped (I did not request it) by a worker there that brought a big plastic cover for the seats of my car and brought the plants and put them carefully inside my messy car. Awesome and super friendly customer service.
